About Warsaw

© Jarosław Pocztarski Warsaw is the capital of Poland since 1956. In 2006 it had more than 1.7 million inhabitants, fact that makes it the 8th largest city in the EU. The city has withstood well over time though it went through several wars.
One of the most important tourist attractions is Old Town where people can see the Royal Palace and the Fortress Column of King Sigismund. Another attraction is the oldest city park, called "Ogrod Saskia", which is 10 minutes walk from Old Town. As a tourist you don't have to miss: the Palace of the President, the University of Warsaw, the New World Street, Warsaw Philharmonic, Sabbath Theatre or the Powszki Hebrew Cemetery.
If you are a museum lover, you should know that you have plenty of them in Warsaw: the National Museum, Muzeum Narodowe, Zacheta Art Gallery, the Centre of Contemporary Art, Museum of the Polish Army and the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
