Southern Poland travel is an especially attractive itinerary for tourists, with numerous natural parks, a desert, salt mines and famous cultural icons like the Black Madonna. The countryside is lovely, and some natural wonders you don't want to miss include the Ojcow National Park and the Bledow Desert. This desert is known as the Sahara of Poland, and it is the biggest desert in Central Europe.

There is a mine in Wieliczka where people have been mining salt from the 13th century to the present, which makes it one of the longest operating mines in the world. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978, and tourists can visit some of the old chambers underground, along with a museum and also a chapel. The famous Black Madonna icon of the Virgin Mary is located in the city of Czestochowa, and draws up to 5 million visitors a year. Other archaeological cites include a Jewish cemetery, and a railway museum.
